Contract manufacturer Foxconn (Hon Hai Precision Industry) is still experiencing growth and is now considering the possible acquisition of European locations. After the company already acquired Sony’s Mexican assembly plant for LCD TVs last year and took over the production of Sony TVs there, it seems that a similar process is planned Europe.

According to DigiTimes, Foxconn in is reported to be in negotiation with Sony with regard to the takeover of a Slovakian assembly plant. Here, too, Foxconn may once again take over Sony’s assembly orders and thus relieve the financially troubled company. Since the high losses it experienced last year, the company is concentrating on increased outsourcing of its own production and is planning to have around 40 percent of its LCD TVs this year produced by contract manufacturers. Foxconn alone will produce around five million TVs for Sony this year.
