Once more, Asus has reported an expansion of its extravagant Designo series. The only really new thing about the four screens is their LED backlight. This ensures a considerably higher dynamic contrast ratio of 10,000,000:1 and lower power consumption.
The "binary design" of their LCD predecessors
also returns for the LED-illuminated models. The monitors also have HDMI, VGA and headphone connections. The 23.6-inch MS248H, the MS238H (23 inches) and the MS228H, with a screen diagonal of 21.5 inches, are Full-HD-enabled. Only the 20-inch MS208D/N has to manage with HD-plus resolution (1,600 x 900). The response time for its panel is five milliseconds, unlike that of its big brother.
Now also with LED backlight: the MS series (picture: Asus).
The Asus models are reported to consume up to 45 percent less power than CCFL-illuminated models of the same size. In the case of the MS248H, the maximum power consumption is 35 Watts and the MS238H consumes 33 Watts when in use. The MS228H consumes a maximum, of 30 Watts and an average of just 22 Watts and the smallest model, the MS208, only requires 25 Watts. All displays are content with one Watt in standby mode.
Asus did not make any mention of the availability date or RRPs in its press release.
